Week 1 (Part 2):Madrid, Toledo, y Granada, Spain -- 1/24/16

What a weekend!

After a 7 hour flight from JFK to Madrid, I met up with my group and headed to the hotel to get situated. We then had a meeting talking about some program details and some expectation and tips for being abroad. After that we got to explore a bit of the nightlife of Madrid.

The next day we took a tour of the city center and went to the Prado. There we saw magnificent paintings such as Las Meninas by Velázquez and--my favorite-- The Decent From The Cross by Rogier van Der Weyden. Painted in c. 1435, The Decent From The Cross depicts the scene of Jesus being let down after he is crucified.

After the Prado, a bunch of students and I explored a bit more of Madrid and were able to take a tour of El Estadio Bernabéu where the soccer team Real Madrid plays!

Here's a couple pictures of the Stadium and Madrid:

After a great day in Madrid, the next morning we headed to Toledo!

Here are a couple pictures of our quick trip there.

It has been an amazing first couple of days. The two cities were so different yet great in their own ways.

Today we made it to Granada, and I just finished dinner with my new host family! I have a host brother named Pedro who is turning 19 soon too just like me! Tomorrow we are going to walk around and explore the city a bit and of course get practicing more on my Spanish!

Here's a picture of my new room too!

More updates soon!

¡Hasta Pronto!
